New York City is known for its energy, its vibrancy, and its unique character. As a photographer, there are few places that offer more inspiration than the city that never sleeps. Recently, I had the pleasure of doing a paid “pair-shoot” in New York City, and I wanted to share my experience with you.
The shoot was a portrait session for a couple who were visiting the city from out of town. They wanted to capture their love in the city that never sleeps, and I was excited to help them do just that. As a photographer who specializes in portrait and wedding photography, I knew that New York City would provide the perfect backdrop for this shoot.
We started the shoot at Central Park, where the couple posed against a backdrop of trees and greenery. The park was alive with the sounds of the city, but the couple was lost in their own world as they held hands and looked into each other’s eyes. I captured their love in a series of candid and posed shots, taking advantage of the natural light and the beauty of the park.
From there, we moved on to Times Square, where the couple was surrounded by the bright lights and energy of the city. I captured them against the backdrop of giant billboards and neon lights, creating images that were both intimate and epic at the same time.
Throughout the shoot, I used my experience as a graphic-journalist for an Austrian business newspaper to bring a journalistic element to the images. I captured the city as it was in the moment, with all of its energy, movement, and chaos. At the same time, I also focused on the couple and their love, capturing the quiet moments between them that are often overlooked in the hustle and bustle of the city.
Overall, the shoot was a success, and the couple was thrilled with the images that we created. It was a reminder of why I love what I do, and why I feel so lucky to be a photographer in a city like New York. There’s nothing quite like capturing love in the city that never sleeps.
